One of the ‘cost-saving’ elements of the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review in October was to take away the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance for people needing residential accomodation and support. Critics of this cut have pointed out that this removes from people who have disabilities and mental health conditions the opportunity to use their motability wheelchairs or vehicles to get around, or to book taxis to attend appointments or visit family & friends. Officers of Making Space in the North West are attempting to bring it to the attention of MPs, Members of The House of Lords and Councillors to ask that this particular measure is looked at again. Discussions are progressing but we want to know what you think. Please leave your thoughts here and we’ll pass them onto the people who we hope will listen to the concerns.
